What is 80/20 partial repowering?

80/20 partial repowering based on the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), is a cost-effective and strategic upgrade approach that allows wind farm asset owners to qualify for tax credits by upgrading at least 80% of their total project value with new components while retaining up to 20% of the existing infrastructure. This approach ensures that wind farms are considered "placed-in-service" as new facilities, making them eligible for valuable tax incentives.
