Klimacampus Bremen e.V. founded

  • Development and promotion of the “Klimacampus Bremen e.V.” project
  • Central platform and model location for economic transformation in the context of climate change
  • Attractive training campus for future-oriented energy technology careers
  • Founding members: Deutsche Windtechnik, ArcelorMittal Bremen, ROM Technik, zwanzigfünfzig

Bremen, 24 February 2026 – Deutsche Windtechnik AG, ArcelorMittal Bremen GmbH, Rud. Otto Meyer Technik GmbH & Co. KG (ROM Technik), and zwanzigfünfzig GmbH are the founding members of the association “Klimacampus Bremen e.V.” These four private-sector companies are joining forces and pooling their expertise at the Klimacampus Bremen to promote and support the ongoing development of the Klimacampus Bremen project.

The core idea of the Klimacampus Bremen is the creation of a modern training campus where professional skills can be acquired - skills that are urgently needed in society in the context of ongoing climate change. These are professions that contribute to increased energy efficiency and the adoption of renewable energies. The founding members already have clear concepts, which are outlined in four modules in the target vision of Klimacampus e.V.

In Module 1, Deutsche Windtechnik will operate a training centre and zwanzigfünfzig will establish a training facility in the Old Shipyard Hall on the Überseeinsel. ArcelorMittal Bremen also plans to be present on the site and supports the initiative. The Free Hanseatic City of Bremen will also develop a laboratory for career orientation. In Module 2, ROM Technik will establish a training centre on the premises of Schuppen 4. The same applies to the third module, which is planned for TBZ Mitte, as well as the fourth module with the Bremen Chamber of Crafts. The result is a cohesive campus that creates synergies among all partners and attracts young people interested in vocational training.

The establishment of Klimacampus Bremen e.V. is another step towards realising this flagship project in Bremen. The association aims to admit further members and strives for cooperation with companies, authorities, public corporations, and organisations in the Bremen and Bremerhaven region, as well as nationally and internationally, who are committed to renewable energies and the objectives of the Klimacampus Bremen project.

The founding board is Ronny Meyer, CEO of Deutsche Windtechnik; his deputy is Dr.-Ing. Stefan Woltering of the ZECH Group; finances are managed by Michael Hehemann, Board Member of ArcelorMittal Bremen. As one of the largest employers in the region, ArcelorMittal Bremen has state-of-the-art facilities capable of producing up to 3.5 million tonnes of crude steel per year. The company is part of ArcelorMittal, one of the world’s largest steel groups, and regularly employs more than 200 trainees at the site - an important investment in the future, as motivated and qualified staff are of central importance to the company.

ROM Technik offers customers the entire spectrum of building technology - from a single source and nationwide, on-site. More than 2,300 highly qualified employees possess excellent training and many years of experience in the planning, realisation, and operation of building technology. With comprehensive know-how, ROM Technik can support its clients across all trades of technical building equipment in their projects, whether in partial contracts or the entire TGA equipment.
